We are proud to announce that Ms.Erica D. Marcano, MS ATC CSCS will podium present Nationally the work of Dr. Victor Lopez Jr, collaborative team and board members of the Rugby Research and Injury Prevention Group, SPRINZ/AUT Research Associates, on our work of U.S. Rugby-7s, representing her seniors and RRIPGs sponsors the National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment.

After Prof. Marcano’s successful presentation at the 2018 EATA Regional Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium, the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) Program Committee has accepted our proposal, “The Risk of Match Injuries in Amateur U.S. Men Rugby-7s” (General Session 1-hour) for the 2018 NATA Clinical Symposia & AT Expo, June 26-29, 2018 in New Orleans, at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, 900 Convention Center Blvd., New Orleans, LA 70130, Exhibit Halls C & D.

Prof. Marcano is an Athletic Trainer at PHLEX Physical Therapy & Advanced Recovery Studio, NY, a Northeast Regional Coordinator with the Rugby Research & Injury Prevention Group, and Athletic Trainer for the Northeast Rugby Olympic Development Academy, sanctioned by USA Rugby Olympic Development Academy & their youth USOC sanctioned Community Olympic Development Program. She was formally an Adjunct Professor at Long Island University’s Athletic Training Program.

NATA

NATA’s mission is to represent, engage and foster the continued growth and development of the athletic training profession. Learn more about becoming an athletic trainer.  The National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) is the professional membership association for certified athletic trainers and others who support the athletic training profession. Founded in 1950, the NATA has grown to more than 45,000 members worldwide today. The majority of certified athletic trainers choose to be members of NATA to support their profession and to receive a broad array of membership benefits. By joining forces as a group, NATA members can accomplish more for the athletic training profession than they can individually. The NATA national office currently has more than 40 full-time staff members who work to support NATA’s mission.

The vision of the NATA is for athletic trainers to be globally recognized as vital practitioners in the delivery and advancement of health care. Through passionate provision of unique services, athletic trainers will be an integral part of the inter-professional health care team.  Meanwhile, the mission of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association is to represent, engage and foster the continued growth and development of the athletic training profession and athletic trainers as unique health care providers.

EATA

The Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association (EATA) Program Committee had accepted our proposal, “The Risk of Match Injuries in Amateur U.S. Men Rugby-7s” (General Session 1-hour) for the 2018 EATA Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposium, January 5-8, 2018 at the Sheraton Hotel in Boston, MA.

The 68th Annual Meeting and Clinical Symposia will be at the Sheraton Boston Hotel, which just unveiled a multi-million dollar renovation including updates to 450 guest rooms, a renovated restaurant and spa.  Situated in the Back Bay the Sheraton is connected to the Shops at Prudential Center, minutes from Fenway Park, Copley Square, and The Museum of Fine Arts and four miles from Logan Airport.

Greg Janik, President-Elect and Program Chair has created an outstanding program offering 17.5 possible CEU’s (including 6 EBP sessions) and pre-conference workshops offering an additional 1.5 EBP credits.  Greg has thought outside the box and this year’s sessions offer a variety of topics not routinely presented which will appeal to those in all settings, including secondary schools and emerging practices.

The mission of the EATA is to provide its members with quality educational programs, as well as scholarships and research opportunities for students and certified members. Friday evening will feature the highly entertaining Student Quiz Bowl and Saturday night’s awards banquet to recognize our award winners and student scholarship recipients. Once again Saturday will conclude with the Collins Sports Medicine reception after the banquet.
